As a follow-up to the Expression of Interest “Bilateral Cooperation with Foreign Space Agencies”, the Malta Council for Science and Technology (MCST) would like to announce that it is now receiving applications for the ‘MCST-CNES Space Bilateral Fund’. Application deadline is 17th May 2019 c.o.b.

This funding scheme is in line with MCST’s internationalisation and capacity building efforts within space-related research and technologies. This opportunity is stemming from the Council’s cooperation with the Centre National d’Études Spatiales (CNES), the French Space Agency, which has been formalised through a Framework Agreement.

In line with the Malta Council for Science and Technology’s (MCST) internationalisation and capacity building within space-related research and technologies, the space directorate is issuing this call for expression of interest to understand potential local interests and requirements for collaboration with foreign space agencies. In particular, these include the French National Centre for Space Studies, i.e. Centre National d’ Études Spatiales (CNES), as well as the Italian Space Agency, i.e. Agenzia Spaziale Italiana (ASI).  The relationship between MCST and CNES, and that between MCST and ASI, have been already formalised through a Framework Agreement and Declaration of Intent respectively.

The output from this Expression of Interest (EOI), will help MCST, together with its partners, to develop and launch a competitive call for proposals in early 2019. Additional information is provided in the EOI document appended at the end of this email.

Maltese entities interested in collaborative projects with CNES or ASI are invited to respond to this EOI utilising the template within the annex of the appended document. Any responses are to reach space.mcst@gov.mt by not later than Monday, 14th January 2019 c.o.b.
