PRESS RELEASE BY THE PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARIAT FOR YOUTH, RESEARCH AND INNOVATION Hand prosthetics to be made more efficient, lighter and cost-effective

The project results and prototype of the MAProHand were presented during a conference held at Esplora, which was attended by Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Research and Innovation Keith Azzopardi Tanti.​​​

MAProHand, the development of the mechanical and control framework for a Minimal Anthropomorphic Prosthetic Hand is a project which was the fruition of the collaboration of three departments from the University of Malta; namely the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the Department of Systems and Control Engineering and the Department of Artificial Intelligence, who partnered with the Orthopaedic Centre Malta Ltd to develop a commercial prosthetic hand.

STQARRIJA MIS-SEGRETARJAT PARLAMENTARI GĦAŻ-ŻGĦAŻAGĦ, IR-RIĊERKA U L-INNOVAZZJONI Prosteżi tal-idejn irħas, eħfef u aktar effiċjenti

 

Ir-riżultati tal-proġett MAProHand flimkien ma’ prototip ġew ippreżentati waqt konferenza fl-Esplora, li għaliha attenda s-Segretarju Parlamentari għaż-Żgħażagħ, ir-Riċerka u l-Innovazzjoni Keith Azzopardi Tanti. ​​

Permezz tal-proġett MAProHand (Minimal Anthropomorphic Prosthetic Hand) ġie żviluppat qafas mekkaniku għal id prostetika li tixbaħ l-id umana. Tliet dipartimenti mill-Università ta’ Malta kkollaboraw flimkien f’dan il-proġett: id-Dipartiment tal-Inġinerija Mekkanika; id-Dipartiment tas-Sistemi u l-Inġinerija; u d-Dipartiment tal-Intelliġenza Artifiċjali li ssieħbu mal-Orthopaedic Centre Malta Ltd biex jiżviluppaw id prostetika għal skop kummerċjali.
